Introduction & Dependency Graph
diid is an API connection management platform designed to map, track, and protect API dependencies across services and teams.
diid maintains a live, contract-aware dependency graph of your services, preventing unintended breaking changes to downstream consumers.
Core Concepts
A diid workspace consists of three core elements:
- Projects: The applications, microservices, frontends, or message brokers in your system.
- Specifications (Specs): The API contracts (OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, GraphQL, SOAP) defining how a project communicates.
- Dependencies: Explicit relationships indicating that one project consumes another project's API or message channels.
The Dependency Graph
The main dashboard provides an interactive dependency graph representing your ecosystem:
- Nodes represent projects.
- Edges represent directional dependencies between producers and consumers.
The graph updates automatically as projects, specifications, and dependencies change.
Breaking Change Indicators
When an upstream spec is updated with breaking changes, diid flags affected nodes and edges until approvals are granted:
- Producer Nodes: Display a warning counter indicating pending consumer approvals.
- Dependency Edges: Highlight affected links between consumers and producers.
- Project Cards: Show warning badges for projects impacted by pending contract changes.
